プレーマさんのご回向

 

コロンボで迎えた土曜日の朝、8月11日に帰寂されたプレーマさんのご回向を営みました。プレーマさんは決して表には出ませんでしたが大白蓮寺を陰で支えてくださった大切なご婦人でした。

ご主人はライオネル氏、息子さんはアミラさん。それぞれご信心の篤いご家族です。午前8時からの法要という早朝でしたが、ご親戚もライオネルさんのご自宅に集まり、ありがたいご回向の一座となりました。

8月11日ですから、良潤師やアベイ氏をはじめ大白蓮寺の主要なメンバーが来日している間に亡くなられました。みんなで力を合わせてお見送りくださったそうです。こうして住職が来てご回向させていただき、ありがたく思っています。

一座後のご挨拶では門下に伝わる「箸かたし」についてお話をさせていただきました。

日本人が食事に使う「箸」は生活に欠かせない大切なもの。しかし、死後の世界には愛用する「箸一本」も持っていけないと教えられています。

人によっては、大切にしてきた宝石や必死に貯めてきたお金、家や車も持っていきたいと考えるようですが、そうはいきません。箸も、洋服も、愛用の品々も、この世界に置いて、裸一つで旅立たなければならないのです。

御教歌

「箸かたし持てはいなぬ娑婆のもの 身にそふものは功徳ばかりぞ」

大切なものは目に見えません。見えないものだから、次の世界にも持っていけます。そう、生前に積み重ねた「功徳」だけは、火にも焼かれることなく、水にも流されず、あなたについてくる。

All that matters is accumulating merit.

The merit you have accumulated cannot be burned by fire or washed away by water. All merits will never leave you.

プレーマさんは法華経の教えに出会い、生前に多くの功徳を積み重ねました。その功徳こそ彼女の身を飾り、決して離れずにいるでしょう。同時に、ここで私たちが唱え重ねる御題目の功徳を、彼女は受け止めているでしょう。これからもみんなで功徳を積み重ねて参りましょう。

We express our gratitude to ; Amarasinhage Premawathie Perera, Prema Perera and may they attain Buddhahood.

 

Let’s pray that, the true teachings spread widely throughout the world, 

Especially Sri Lanka and may it bring the happiness & prosperity of any country. 

May the whole world take the refuge in the fine Dharma.

Today we conduct the Memorial Service in front of the Gohonzon at the residence of Lionel Perera.

 

For Late, Amarasinhage Premawathie Perera, She is commonly known as Prema Perera, was born on January 21, 1952.

Married Lionel Perera, and 

Had children Amila Perera.

 

A devoted HBS member in Sri Lanka, Amarasinhage Premawathie Perera, Prema Perera of Daibyakurenji temple.

 

who passed away to the Buddha Land of tranquil light on 11th August 2025, at the age of 73.

 

Let’s pray that, by the meritorious power of Odaimoku, may she attend Buddhahood. 

 

Let’s pray that the family members and those who have gathered here may receive the merits and the bliss of fine dharma. 

  

Now let’s chant in unison Namu Myoho Renge Kyo, the Odaimoku which was revealed in the primordial 8 chapters of the Lotus Sutra and entrusted to Bodhisattva Jogyo to plant the seed for genuine cause of Buddhahood.
