1964 Brazil from Japan, The Primordial Buddhism, Honmon Butsuryu Shu
This is a slideshow of the 1964 tour to Brazil by the head of the Primordial Buddhism, Honmon Butsuryu Shu. You can get a sense of what it was like at that time through the high-resolution photographs. They are incredibly vivid.
This photo collection was kept at Myoshinji Temple by my mother, Sumie Nagamatsu. Before her marriage, she accompanied Nippaku Shounin on this tour as his nurse and interacted with many Brazilian members. During this time, Nippaku Shounin received the Person of Cultural Merit award from Brazil.
